Parmigiano doc, born in 1963, began a close journalistic collaboration in 1990 with the master of Italian food and wine criticism Luigi Veronelli, his mentor, writing about ‘Buone Cose’ (Good Things) in the guide of the same name, working in the ‘Guida Ristoranti’ (Restaurant Guide) and in ‘Etichetta’ (Label).
He then took on the creative direction of the bimonthly magazine Spirito diVino. Formerly a lecturer in Critical Tasting Methodology at the University of Parma’s Gastronomic Sciences degree course, he was appointed professor of Tasting Methodology at the San Raffaele University in Milan.
A member of the executive management of the Espresso Restaurant Guide, he is a food and wine consultant, contributes to the food and wine page of the Gazzetta di Parma and directs the MUP gastronomic series.
In 2007, he won the Luigi Veronelli Award for Best Journalist, came second in the 2009 Bancarella Cucina Award with his book Nella Dispensa di Don Camillo (Tommasi Editore) and was a finalist in the 2010 Oscar del Vino; He won the Verdicchio d’Oro in 2012, and in the same year, the Enciclopedia del Vino (Dalai Editore) was published, of which he is co-author. Together with Luca Gardini, he founded the Biwa award, Best Italian Wine Awards. The following year, he won the prestigious Grand Prix du Sommelier awarded by the International Academy of Cuisine. He participates as a judge and commentator on numerous successful television programmes (La Prova del Cuoco, Matrix, Masterchef) and collaborates as an assistant screenwriter with Taodue on the highly successful television series “Benvenuti a Tavola”, for which he also edited the book, written in collaboration with Pietro Valsecchi, featuring recipes from the series (Fivestore Editore). In 2013, he appeared alongside Simone Rugiati in the eighth edition of Cuochi e Fiamme on La 7D and subsequently joined Benedetta Parodi as a judge on Senti chi mangia. He writes for Arbiter, James, La Cucina Italiana, Italiasquisita and Gazzetta dello Sport. A member of Future Cooking Lab, a spin-off of the University of Parma, he has also taught at IULM.
